Lay Ministries
Eucharistic Ministers
The Extra-ordinary Eucharistic Ministers
are entrusted to distribute the Body of Christ and His Precious Blood
during the celebration of Mass
They also set-up for Mass as well as
purify the vessels used during the Eucharistic celebration.
Training is
required for this ministry and you must be confirmed.

Lectors
Are you interested in reading at
Mass? You may want to sign up as a Lector!
Duties include: reading
the introduction before Mass, both readings and the Prayers of the
Faithful.
We will provide a handbook for each liturgical year. It
includes all the readings and their pronunciations and will enable you
to prepare for Mass.

Ushers
Ushers are very active during the
celebration of Mass.
Their duties include: greeting all parishioners
entering the church, collecting the offertory,
leading the faithful to
Holy Communion, passing out bulletins after Mass and securing the church
after everyone has left.

Altar Servers
This ministry is one of the most
important ministries.
The Altar Servers assist the Priest during Mass.
Ages 10 and older are eligible for this ministry.
Before serving, you
will receive a handbook and you will need to attend a training session.

Choir
This ministry
provides music for the 6:00 PM Saturday Vigil Mass as well as for the
9:00 and 11:30 am Sunday Masses and for other liturgical services
throughout the year. We would like to expand our choirs at all Masses
with additional singers and instrumentalists. The choirs are open to
everyone! Practice is every Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM

Gift Bearers
We always need families or
individuals who are willing to bring the gifts of bread and wine up to
the altar during Mass.
The sign up sheet is on the table in the narthex.
Elijah Cup
We are also looking for families or
individuals to sign up for our Elijah Cup Ministry each week.
For this
ministry you will take the cup home and pray during that week for
vocations to the priesthood and religious life of our Diocese of
Savannah and all of the Catholic Church.
You will receive the cup at the
end of Mass and you will need to return it before Mass the following
weekend.

Council of
Catholic Women
The CCW's mission is to support and
educate Catholic women in the spirituality, leadership and service of
the Church.
They have several events during the year and monthly
meetings which take place on every 3rd Monday. Women over 18 years are
welcome to join.

Men's Club
The Men's Club meets twice each
month.
Their meetings, one business meeting and one social
meeting, are on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays.
All men over 18 years
are welcome to join our fellowship.

CYO
Our CYO group is for teens in 7th
thru 12th grade.
This group meets every Sunday at 5:00 PM to enjoy fun,
fellowship and to deepen their knowledge of their Catholic faith.
This
group is also encouraged to help with our younger kids during Vacation
Bible School and C.C.D. classes. If you fit this age group, join now!
Parish Life
Committee
This ministry prepares the social
functions for our church, such as Coffee with the Pastor on Sundays,
receptions for Baptisms and First Holy Communion. This includes set-up
and clean up.

Prayer Chain
If you are interested in being a caller,
or someone who is called to pray for the prayer chain,
please call Irene
Saunders to get on the team. We pray for special intentions, the sick
and the bereaved.

Committee
Members are asked to help provide or
serve a meal after the funeral rite.
These meals may be held in the
parish hall or may be served at the home of the bereaved.
Service will
be on an "as needed basis."
They also accept donations in place of
meals.

Bible Sharing
Every Friday at 10:00
AM, Bible study
and faith sharing offers scripture teaching and topic discussion.
Any adult is welcome to attend. We invited you to come join in our
spiritual growth and fellowship.

Altar Care
The altar care ministry is a quiet,
behind the scenes ministry.
Workers are responsible for washing and
ironing the linens used during the liturgy.
This includes, hand towels, purificators, corporals and albs.

Cabbies
We need people who are willing to
bring members of our faith community to church for Mass.
Please
call the church office at 788-6386 if you are willing to help.
Service will be on "as needed basis".

Organizations
Knights of
Columbus
The K of C welcome all Catholic men 18
years and older.
You must apply to be invited in as a 1st Degree Knight and be a Catholic
in good standing.
This group helps to raise money for several charities.
They also organize 1st Friday Fish Fry's at the Knights Hall next to St.
Joseph's Catholic Church.

Secular
Franciscan Order
If you are interested in learning
more about the SFO, please contact Deacon Dennis Arcand.
This is an
order that was established in the 1200's by St. Francis of Assisi for
lay men and women.
A local Fraternity meets monthly at Holy Spirit

Rite of
Christian Initiation
If you, or someone you know, are
interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, please let us
know.
We are currently having RCIA classes on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM
in the parish hall.
This class prepares the catechumens to be fully
brought in the church at the Easter Vigil.

Coffee with
the Pastor
Please join us on Sundays from 10:15
till 11:15 AM for this continued education for adults.
Each week we
learn about the meanings of the readings and the gospel.
This is another
way to continue with our learning process after Confirmation.
Theology on
Tap
Theology on Tap is an opportunity
for adult education and faith sharing in a very informal setting.
It is
geared specifically for the 18-40 year old crowd.
The group will meet
the 2nd Tuesday of each month at various restaurants/bars.

C.C.D.
Classes
Our C.C.D. program is designed to
provide both Catholic education and spirituality to our young believers.
This program is for all children age 4 through 8th grade who are not
enrolled in a Catholic school.
We meet on most Sundays during the school
year from 10:15 AM until 11:15 AM

children in our C.C.D program.
If you are interested in being a teacher,
or helping in any other way, please let our DRE know.
